Made To Last Forever

We were made to last forever,
But not here on this earth.
If we give our lives to Jesus,
We will have a brand new birth.

We will have trials in this life,
But perfection in Heaven above.
Now there's pain and tribulations,
But with God, abundant love.

Do not waver while you're waiting,
Remain fast and hold on hard.
Though the way you go has pitfalls,
And you become so very tired.

Our rewards in Heaven are many,
Will make up for hardships here.
We will loose many loved ones,
Some are waiting for us up there.

God gives us the choice to live,
Either in Heaven or in Hell.
Tell me friend, which will it be,
In eternity, where will you dwell?
A Little Like An Onion

We are a little like an onion,
before God makes us new.
The sins we hide are stinky,
our Lord can see them too.

We peal away the first shell,
which is easy for us to see.
But we miss the inner core,
Waiting to hurt you and me.

This inner core gets more rotten,
The longer it festers there.
Its odor is overwhelming,
To others, but they still care.

As our sins get more putrid,
Our Lord is pleading still,
For us to turn away from sin,
He will give us a Godly fill.

Our lives have a new meaning.
We smell so fresh today.
Witness to others around us,
Since God flushed the onion away.

What Is A Church?

By - Ruby Ketron - 2004

A church is merely a building,
Where people can worship God.
It has a roof, walls and pews,
Organ and pulpit, it's God's pod.

It is the people, who make it work,
God's Word they must try to spread.
They all need to pull together,
Not approach it like they're dead.

It draws us together, as one body,
To worship God and pray.
We learn more about our Savior,
Sometimes, we even play.

The building keeps us dry and warm,
God is the main focus here.
It is a symbol of our faith, our belief,
We know God is always near.

Buildings will rot and fade away,
Or be used in other ways.
But God is constant, always ours,
There to sooth all of our dismays.
The Seasons Of Life

Our lives start out much like spring,
As babies, to our moms we cling.
We cannot do things on our own,
Must learn it all, though not alone.

Then comes the summer in our lives,
We raise our children, and we strive,
To teach them what is right or wrong,
See they eat right, so they grow strong.

Give them goals, and help them learn,
What they must do and where to turn.
Take them to church, teach them to pray,
And to read their Bible every day.

Then fall comes and much too soon,
They are all gone, finding their own tune.
Take wrong turns, we steer them back,
Hope they can cope with all they lack.

Now winter comes to all who live,
To be very old, we can no longer give.
We cannot take care of yourself,
Some just want to sit us on a shelf.

We struggle on, with aches and pains,
It's hard to see that we make any gains.
As our health fails, our friends go home,
We feel so very lonely and all alone.
Look At The Positive Side

Look at the positive side of life.
The negative will only hurt.
If you keep your outlook up,
It's like putting on a new shirt.

Your life can have new meaning,
If you will just give it a try.
Think I can do it, it will work,
Don't let it just go right on by.

How do you know you can't do it,
If attempts you never make?
What makes you think it won't work,
That it isn't real or it is a fake?

There are two ways to see everything,
Either cop out and do not try.
Or look at it through positive eyes,
And surprise yourself, you'll see why.

Gulf Hurricane, 2005

Their world was laid to waste,
the storm destroyed it all.
The vast destruction unbelievable,
it is bound to effect us all.

Louisiana and Mississippi mostly,
felt the wrath of this storm.
Many towns are completely gone,
a huge mass of people swarm.

Such a vast number of humanity,
displaced by this horrible thing.
No water or food within their reach,
through water they cannot bring.

Helicopters and boats do their best,
to rescue the people here.
As they wade out, nowhere to go,
so many are dead, we fear.

Sanitation is bad, so disease results,
old people and children are hurt.
Medical facilities wiped out too,
also trapped in this terrible dirt.

Rescuers do their best to help,
bring aid as fast as they can.
Surrounded by water, out of reach,
over such a tremendous span.

Vandals destroy or loot what's left,
take shots at the rescuers too.
What is wrong with people like this,
care not how it effects you?

No medications now, for the aged,
they had to leave it behind.
People are dying while waiting there,
food or water for babies can't find.

No pets are allowed in the shelters,
wander till their fate they meet.
People already lost all they had,
loss of pets made this complete.

So helpless we feel, as our tears flow,
pity for this humanity is true.
Doing our best to bring aid to them,
there is so little that we can do.

We must heed what God is saying,
time left on earth is short.
Heaven awaits those who are ready,
will you get a good report?

I'd Like To Tell My Momma
by

I'd like to tell my Momma,
that I turned out just fine.
I never have been very bad,
did my best to toe the line.

I want Momma to see how I
wrote poems, stories as well.
Put them into books for all,
some think they are really swell.

I want her to know that God,
has led me all the way.
Showed me how to lead the kids,
gave me strength for every day.

I've stumbled and I've faultered,
turned to God and then,
He gave me the strength I needed,
to get up and go again.

So Lord, please tell her that,
I'll see her some sweet day,
in your Beautiful Heaven,
where together we will pray.

Sliding Down The Other Side

I went over the hill a long time ago,
For a while, I crept a little bit slow.
Then I got the hang of the whole thing,
When it gets hard to walk, just swing.

When I got to the top, logic told me,
To slide down the other side, so free.
No strain on the feet, it is easy to do,
And your heart is so stress free too.

It takes little energy, when you slide,
To reach the bottom faster, glide.
Don't let big things get you down,
Smile each time, instead of frown.

When your slide is done you see,
Heaven awaits for both you and me.
God will then put His arms around us,
There will be no more pain or fuss.

Because God's Children always win,
Slide down that hill with a happy grin.
The big reward for living a Godly life,
Is happiness and freedom from strife.

Temptations

"Come with me said the goose,
if you want to be free,"
"Just do what you want,
without a care, go with me."
"No way, not me," said the owl,
in his sternest tone.
"If you do that sort of thing,
you can do it all alone."

"But, smoking pot feels so good,
try one, you will see."
"No way, said the wise owl again,
that weed is not for me."
"Here, smoke tobacco, it won't hurt,
will calm you down a bit."
"Why would I want to smoke that stuff
and cause a coughing fit?"

"It ruins the lungs, pollutes the air,
puts others in distress."
"I sure don't need more problems,
I have enough I guess."
"I like my life the way it is,
why borrow trouble goose?"
"You don't need those smokes either,
be smart and turn them loose."
